Pitbulls and Discrimination

Pitbulls, or dogs that are often classified as "pitbull-type breeds," have faced discrimination and stigmatization in various ways. This discrimination can be attributed to several factors:

1. Breed-specific legislation (BSL): Many jurisdictions have implemented BSL, which bans or imposes restrictions on the ownership of specific dog breeds, often including pitbulls and related breeds.
